and why it is so important

Our liver does so much for us each and every day, so it only makes sense for us to take care of it in return.

It helps us eliminate waste and toxins from our blood as it filters it, and creates nutrients for the rest of the body in forms that are easier for them to utilize. It is a part of detoxification pathways that can affect everything from our skin, hormone balance, and energy levels. Optimizing these pathways helps our overall well-being; so how can we do that?

Green and cruciferous vegetables are a favorite for the liver, as they boost its function. Sprouts are particularly beneficial.

Taking care of our gut is essential for the liver to remain healthy. If our bowels cannot consistently and easily move to remove accumulated toxins, undigested food and parasites, these things can recirculate. Consider fermented foods, fiber, and possibly incorporating a probiotic if you feel a regular bowel movement is not the norm for you.

Dandelion tea is a wonderful option to support the liver in a gentle and effective way. The natural bitterness of the root can help stimulate the liver and its ability to produce bile. Try regularly consuming raw carrots. They contain a unique fiber that supports estrogen detox, preventing any reabsorption in the liver so that it can function properly.

Another great way to support the liver is considering more concentrated herbal remedies. Liver Juice, made by the small herbalism company, Organic Olivia, is one of my personal favorites. It contains Oregon grape root, milk thistle seed, burdock root, dandelion root, turmeric root, bupleurum root, beet root, and red root all in one to be used daily for gentle detoxification support in the liver.

Remember, we do not need to go on “detoxes” to “reset” things in our body. That is not how it works. Our liver is a part of our natural detoxification system, all we have to do is make sure that it is well taken care of and it will do the rest!
