POSTPARTUM CHIROPRACTIC CARE
The human body is forever changed postpartum – it can be scary yet empowering! The aches and pains of pregnancy and birth are in the past, but new symptoms and complaints can present themselves:
- Low back and hip pain
- Neck pain related to feeding
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Diastasis Rectus Abdominis (DRA)
- Urinary incontinence
- Pelvic girdle pain
- Core dysfunction
- And pelvic organ prolapse
Although the aforementioned complaints are common, they should not be deemed normal. Our providers will also discuss hormone imbalance, mental health, thyroid dysfunction, return to exercise, and more!
Recovery and rehabilitation from childbirth is an important part of the postpartum period. Unfortunately, you may feel left to navigate your recovery alone following the standard 6-week postpartum appointment covering the bare minimum information. For the best experience and most productive recovery period, do not rely on generalized programs! It’s important for both patients AND providers to understand that an individualized treatment plan that involves assessment, education, manual therapy and exercise is essential to promote intentional recovery. Our providers will custom tailor a treatment plan that will evolve based on each patient’s progress through the postpartum period.
You can begin your recovery process as early as 2 weeks postpartum. Even though you aren’t cleared to exercise just yet, you can begin your recovery process with breath regulation techniques while bonding with your newborn and performing your daily routine. We are more than happy to co-manage with OBs, midwives, physical therapists, coaches, and other healthcare professionals to achieve the best results quickly.

Postpartum Recovery Series
This is a doctor-led 4-week movement series for postpartum women. The goal of the class is to educate women on how to intentionally recover postpartum, while reintroducing exercise safely. We focus on core and pelvic floor function, but will also work postural strengthening, upper body and lower body strength. There will be modifications with resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells and even barbells. You will be moving the entire class, aside from maybe the first 5-10 minutes where we will discuss a different postpartum educational topic each day. Topics will include pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary incontinence, DRA, hormone dysfunction and even postpartum nutrition. You will also leave each class with a 15-20 minute workout that will be emailed to you. By the end of the series you will have 8 workouts to continue to cycle through at home after the series ends. It will be held at Pinnacle Hill Chiropractic in the beautiful PHC Training Facility on the lower level.
