Chiropractic Care Treatment Methods

Spinal and Extremity Manipulation

Spinal and extremity manipulation is the application of manually applying controlled force into hypomobile or painful joints in order to reduce muscle pain and tightness, allowing injured tissue to heal.

Flexion and Distraction

Flexion and Distraction is hands-on spinal manipulation performed with the patient lying on a specially designed chiropractic table. This decompression therapy is most appropriate for conditions causing low back pain, leg pain, neck pain, and arm pain. This method has been proven to relieve spinal pain associated with disc bulges and herniations, facet syndrome, spinal canal stenosis and spondylolisthesis.

The Activator Method

The Activator Method is a widely researched and effective instrument-assisted chiropractic technique utilizing a tool to deliver a gentle, yet direct impulse to the joint with the goal of restoring motion. This method can be used to treat a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy is a safe, non-toxic, and non-invasive modality that can treat and accelerate recovery from minor injuries and sprains tendonitis, joint pain, inflammation, low back pain, and neck pain. This modality allows more intense therapy techniques to be implemented earlier in the rehabilitation process, improving functional gains and outcomes.

Cupping

Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy utilizing pump activated cups to create a vacuum. The cups are strategically placed over acupuncture points or muscles with the intent of moving blood to release tension or break up adhesions to aid the healing of injured tissue.

Taping

Taping is a rehabilitative technique designed to provide support and stability to muscles and joints to facilitate the body’s natural healing processes. This modality can be used to treat orthopedic, neuromuscular, and neurological conditions in a variety of populations from pediatric to senior.

Rehabilitative Exercises

Our lower-level training facility is the perfect setting to assess movement patterns and integrate rehabilitation exercises and strength training into patient treatment plans.

It is not recommended to have your partner give you a “bear hug” or have your child walk on your back. If your child or partner doesn’t have proper training or understanding of how to safely manipulate the spine, there’s a risk of injury. A sudden or incorrect movement could potentially strain muscles or even cause injury to the spine and surrounding structures. If you’re considering having someone crack your back, it will be safer to seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional, such as a chiropractor. They can assess your condition and provide appropriate techniques or exercises to help alleviate any discomfort you’re experiencing.

The “cracking” sound you hear while getting adjusted is nothing other than gases begin released from the joint capsule. The sound does not necessarily indicate that a chiropractic adjustment was successful. Even without the sound, movement has occurred and motion has been restored to the joint.
